This course is an intense week long version of all five modules of our Online Computer Forensics course created by international expert John Mellon. The program is designed to be over 60% hands on. Students will attend morning lectures and then break out into computer labs to perform actual computer forensic examinations. Each lab will be run by experienced Certified Computer Examiners. Students will learn core forensic procedures that apply to most operating systems and how to conduct forensically sound examinations to preserve evidence for admission and use in legal proceedings. Additionally, this course will help prepare students for the Certified Computer Examiner Certification. This course covers all topics covered in all five modules of the online program.

COURSE CATALOG -- COMPUTER FORENSICS

Computer Forensics is an emerging science with a surplus of demand for expertise. Corporations, law firms, insurance agencies, and law enforcement are among the first to recognize the crucial need for computer forensics experts. Companies are finding that evidence retrieved from computers and other electronic storage media are becoming more relevant to convicting criminals and reclaiming stolen assets. This evidence can be powerful, but if it is not retrieved in a methodical & precise manner, it can be easily damaged and ruled inadmissible in a court of law. For this reason, employers are beginning to look for those with experience or training in the field of Computer Forensics.

The Southeast Cybercrime Institute offers a comprehensive course which will prepare individuals for a career in this emerging field. Through this training, students will learn to retrieve evidence and prepare reports based on that evidence that will stand up in a court of law. Also included is a section on the ethics of computer forensics and on the preparation and analysis of investigation results. This course is available either online or in class.

The Southeast Cybercrime Institute also offers the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) Certification. The Computer Forensics course will prepare students to test for this certification. When registering, students may elect to register for either the training course alone or both the training course and certification exam together.
This program has been approved for Navy Tuition Assistance.
